We all have heard the very outlandish and very funny jokes about how much of a bad ass Chuck Norris is and now he has his own game on the iPhone! Check out our review:

The Game

Step into the boots of America’s toughest man in the first Chuck Norris game available for your iPhone and iPod touch. A brilliantly outlandish scenario sets you, Chuck Norris, in the Cambodian jungle to release prisoners of war held hostage by a rogue army of Communist soldiers. Inspired by old-school arcade games, Chuck Norris features the enjoyable and simple ingredients of a traditional beat’em up spiced up with crazy combos, exciting mini-games and totally destructible environments. The crowning touch is the ability to use your iPhone to take a picture of anyone you like (or dislike) and beat them up in the game! This is a Chuck-Norris-approved stress relief method!

Gameplay

Pretty simple yet fun game play mechanics at work here. It’s kind of like Contra from way back in the day of Super Nintendo – a side scroller shoot em’ all action game – that plays on the very funny Chuck Norris quotes we have all come to love, for example:

If you spell Chuck Norris in Scrabble, you win. Forever.
When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.
Chuck Norris can slam revolving doors.
The Big Bang was actually Chuck Norris roundhouse kicking God in the face.
When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn’t lifting himself up, he’s pushing the Earth down.

Funny right? Okay back to the gameplay, it’s pretty fun – and funny at the same time. The camera feature allows you to use the camera to capture picture of your face or a friends and puts that image on all the enemies so Chuck can beat them down.

Controls

The controls are very easy! this was not meant to be a very in depth game – only a entertaining fun game. A joystick on the left to move around and a single button on the right to fire/melee. The button/joystick are both very responsive and small enough and placed out of the way to keep a good field of view – but not to small where the become unuseable.

Graphics

The graphics are pretty impressive, it’s a 2d side scroller with graphic quality matching that of the Neo-Geo – more specificly reminds me of the game Metal Slug. The animations are smooth – and the small comic book like styles are a great touch. The character sprites are very clean for being a 2D game.

Sound

Nothing ground breaking here – but still the sound is fitting. The weapons sounds and explosions are pretty accurate to what you would expect when shooting thing or blowing stuff up.

Verdict

For just $.99 cents you got plenty of entertainment. The game features 13 levels and fun accelerometer mini games. Not to mention quite a few hilarious Chuck Norris is a bad ass type quotes. Definitely pick this app up – or Chuck Norris will punch a baby in the face!
