Apple is said to be hiring a team to lead a virtual helpdesk of 450 employees that will work from home. Many job listings have been seen on Apple.com, Monster.com, MySpace Jobs and HotJobs titled “Apple At Home Experts.” The requirements listed on the ads include access to a private and quiet workspace and an ergonomically fitted chair and desk. It also requires a dedicated phone line and internet connection, both of which would be subsidized by Apple. This may be an attempt by Apple to improve their service as they introduce their new iPhone within the next few months and to ease the workload of the Apple Geniuses who seem to be pretty overworked whenever I go into an Apple store for service.
