Faced with mounting pressure from green activists, Apple has decided to launch a new and more aggressive green campaign to improve the company’s image among the more eco-friendly community. The initiative aims to poke holes in existing models for green reporting by companies as well as revamp Apple’s policies in regards to harmful materials used in the production of their products.
“A lot of companies publish how green their building is, but it doesn’t matter if you’re shipping millions of power-hungry products with toxic chemicals in them,” says CEO Steve Jobs in an interview. “It’s like asking a cigarette company how green their office is.”
Apple had previously had their reputation tarnished by companies such as Dell and HP who would report their emissions. They have been cited by groups such as Greenpeace for their abysmal record in comparison. Details can be found here.
