Apple News

After going into beta with developers for a few weeks, the official public release of the iPhone Firmware 2.0.1 is finally here. The download is a large 242 MB, and apparently supplies you with various “bug fixes”. Apple quietly released it yesterday via iTunes, notifying iPhone and iPod Touch users with a message upon syncing.

After I installed the new Firmware, I found it to provide quite a bit more speed and stability to my iPhone. Apps seems to no longer crash, and everything seems a bit faster in response to touch input. Over all, it seems to fix many of the problems that the 2.0 firmware provided my iPhone with.

The drawback to the 2.0.1 Firmware, is that installing it breaks current Jailbreaking Techniques. So, if you were looking to install the beta of Installer 4 that was leaked, too bad.
