Apple to sell their iPod touch EasyPay checkout systems to other retailers?

Apple recently got rid of their Windows Mobile EasyPay point-of-sale system in their Apple Stores and have since replaced them with an iPod touch-based setup. Now that they are using their own product for EasyPay, they may be looking into selling this new system to other retailers to use as well. Apple supposedly has had inquires from other retailers about acquiring their new system for use in their own stores. Their new EasyPay setup consists of an iPod touch with an accessory case that includes a barcode scanner and magnetic card reader. The EasyPay also uses a Pogo stylus so customers can provide their signatures. The iPod touch also makes use of a custom app that processes the sale.

There is no official word from Apple whether their EasyPay system will be available for sale, but rumor is that they are compiling a list of potential customers who have expressed interest. Many people are already familiar with the interface of the iPhone/iPod touch, and its pretty easy to figure out if someone has never used one before. So this seems like a good move for Apple, and yet another segment to enter in, and eventually dominate.
