More rumors have surfaced about Apple’s new iPhone linup, many sources have claimed that Apple will feature three different models of iPhones. The Royal Bank of Canada predicts that Apple will merely repackage the existing iPhone 3G and sell it for $99. An unnamed source also claimed that Apple will offer three iPhone models with different wireless hardware. The rumors also hinted that countries with the most capable wireless networks, i.e the United States, would see an enhanced version of the iPhone 3G (which will be the next 3rd generation iPhone) capable of 7.2Mbps downloads. while other countries receive a version similar to the current iPhone 3G which is capable of 3.6Mbps 3G downloads. The third model would probably target only China and feature more limited functions and drop 3G connectivity entirely or offering compatibility with the government-endorsed TD-SCDMA standard.
