The 3rd generation iPhone 3G is almost here, and AT&T has said that they will be upgrading their 3G network to support the faster download speeds of the peak 7.2 Mbps speed of the new iPhone. AT&T also claimed that they will be introducing a few HSPA 7.2-compatible laptop cards and smartphones later in the year as well. The new iPhone’s main selling point is the faster Internet and download speeds so to make good on the claim AT&T will have to work on their not-so-fast faster 3G network.
