Firmware 3.0 Beta bricks your iPhone!

If you haven’t tried it by now, do not upgrade your iPhone to firmware 3.0. The people who couldn’t wait until summer to upgrade their iPhones to firmware 3.0 so they could enjoy Copy & Paste and app backgrounding have instead been given a bricked iPhone. Firmware 3.0 Beta is so far only available for iPhone developers and it will actually ask you for authentication. If you do not have any, your iPhone will be unable to go back to factory settings through a restore with iTunes. The only way to get your iPhone un-bricked after you’ve already loaded firmware 3.0 Beta is to make an appointment at the Apple Store which has agreed to replace your bricked iPhone under warranty. We hope they give you a holier-than-thou attitude though… just wait a little longer people!
