It still has not been made clear what Apples intended use of newly acquired LaLa, but BusinessWeek has reported that Apple does plan to let Google to continue to utilize it’s service. Google unveiled its own music search service in late October, which is backed by Lala.
So it appears to me Apples intentions may have been to just buy Lala out from under Google simply to keep Google from having it, and now Google is at the mercy of Apple in terms of the Lala service.
R.J. Pittman, Google director of product management:
“We have enjoyed a good relationship with Apple for many years, and that continues to be the case. We are agreeing to continue to leave
The rumored speculation of Apples plans for Lala are to develope is to develope a model for web streaming, for iTunes, which would try and compete with Google’s streaming music service. No official comment on the matter has yet been made from Apple.
