Apple’s iPhone 3G has been dominating the smart phone market which is no surprise, but the iPhone has done very well for itself in the hand held game market as well. iPhone app games have dominated in the finalist entries section and were the prize winners of the mobile game awards at the annual Games Festival this year. The eleventh IGF awards were held with the Game Developers Conference 2009 in San Francisco this year. The iPhone has made a big splash in the gaming industry and IGF took notice as many independent mobile game developers have moved to the iPhone plateform. Almost every category had a win for an iPhone App Store game for the iPhone and the iPod touch. The Nintendo DS and Sony PSP were among the finalist but it seems like the iPhone came out of no where to dominate, looks like the big buys at Nintendo and Sony better watch out because there’s a new sherrif in town.
