iphone os 31 iPhone OS 3.1 features

The new iPhone OS 3.0 has been out a few short weeks but Apple is already working on OS 3.1 and has already released the beta for developers. The new OS 3.1 has a few small but important updates that are specifically for the iPhone 3GS that should improve the device even moreso for users and developers alike. One of the new features is new APIs that will allow third party apps to access videos and have the edit function as well. This will no doubt open up apps to have iPhone video access in the future. Boot times will be faster for the new iPhone as well along with voice control over Bluetooth. MMS support is suppose to be included again for iPhone users on AT&T but when the actual use of MMS is available is up to AT&T, what the heck is the hold up here AT&T?! No date for the new iPhone OS 3.1 has been announced but the beta OS 3.1 firmware and iPhone SDK 3.1 is already available for developers is already out for testing purposes only. Below is a list of what to expect with the new iPhone OS 3.1.

• Video editing on iPhone 3GS won’t overwrite the original when trimming a clip.
• iPhone will now vibrate when arranging home screen icons.
• “Fraud Protection” toggle has been added to settings under Safari.
• iPhone boot time is now faster.
• Voice Control over Bluetooth.
• New APIs to enable third party apps to access videos and edit them.
