Mophie makes some pretty cool stuff for the iPhone, they’re known for their Juice Pack battery packs, but they also have a full line of iPhone cases as well. When I had the opportunity to review another Mophie product I happily jumped at the chance, I reviewed the Mophie Juice Pack Air and I was thoroughly impressed, so I was sure that their next product to come down the pipeline would be just as good.
This time around I will be reviewing the Mophie Hard Case Plus for the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. What’s so plus about it you ask? Read on!

iPhone cases seem to be a dime a dozen, there are a lot of options out there. A good amount of those cases out there seem to be pretty much the same. It’s either a flimsy silicone case, a stylish yet not too functional leather case, or some sort of hard plastic case. Well Mophie has a case that, at first glance looks just like many of the other cases out there, but upon closer inspection has something no one else has.
The Mophie Hard Case Plus is made out of clear polycarbonate, so you can still see that oh so sexy iPhone inside it. It provides a good amount of protection that should keep your iPhone working after a pretty bad drop, yet it’s still rather slim. It snaps into place really easily, but once you get it on it can be a bit difficult to get off. That can be a pain in the arse, but at least you know the case won’t fall apart on you like some of the cheapy acrylic cases out there can. The Mophie Hard Case Plus allows full access to all of the iPhone’s ports and buttons and provides ample clearance and space for the sync dock and 3.5mm headphone port.

So what makes the Mophie Hard Case Plus worthy of the word Plus in its title? I’m glad you asked, most iPhone cases include a plastic screen protector of some sort that sticks to the iPhone’s glass screen. You can also purchase these separately, but usually they don’t work too well. Sure they protect from scratches and whatnot, but they can get dust and air bubbles under them making your iPhone look like a hippy who hasn’t showered for a month. Here is why the Hard Case is a Plus, it features a hard plastic touch through screen protector.
No this isn’t a cheapo plastic screen protector thrown into the box with the case, this screen guard is part of the case! I’m sure you’re asking, but doesn’t it affect the sensitivity of the touch screen? At first it may seem a bit weird using your iPhone with a hard plastic screen guard right on top of your iPhone’s touchscreen, but after you get over the protective barrier on top of your iPhone’s glass, it actually works pretty darn well. It doesn’t seem to affect the touchscreen in the slightest bit, swiping, typing and pinching seem as smooth as it does without the Mophie case.

The Mophie Hard Case Plus is a great case if you want good protection but you still want to see the iPhone’s good looks. The integrated touch through screen guard is a pretty slick feature too, especially for those iPhone owners who don’t want to sport a stick-on plastic screen protector, like me. The Mophie Hard Case Plus goes for $29.95 from Mophie and other retailers. For more information check them out at www.mophie.com.
