In a mass email to its list of registered developers, Apple has warned that all apps in the iTunes approval queue for the iPhone be firmware 3.0 compliant. This means that apps currently awaiting approval will be pulled if they are not compatible. This is not a bad move since the upcoming firmware 3.0 update is going to be free to all iPhone users and $10 for iPod Touch users. Apple’s move could save many iPhone users who have upgraded to firmware 3.0 the pain and headache of app compatibility issues. Of course this also means if there are apps that you having been eagerly awaiting for a while now, you may have to wait a little longer. Then again, Apple’s app approval system is anything but predictable so who knows?
