It may be the end of an era for Apple. Their rockstar and charasmatic CEO Steve Jobs is showing all the signs of an aging ruler who is grooming a successor. Keynote events have always been conducted by Jobs and Jobs alone, but this recent Mac Event featured a different tone. Tim Cook took the stage first wearing the same clothes as Jobs and the rest of the presentation feature many others with a much shorter presentation by the star himself. We probably won’t be seeing Jobs do another 3 hour presentation by himself again. This is not a good time for the trusted Apple CEO to be thinking about retirement. The stock market is in dire straits and jittery stockholders sell at the first sign of trouble. Apple has come a long way under Jobs’ rule. But his failing health in recent months have been the inspiration for many rumors. Of course, retirement for someone like Jobs will not mean he won’t have anything to do with the company anymore. Just like how Bill Gates will still be Microsoft, Jobs will most likely still be Apple, just not all day every day.
