apple store Steve Jobs lends a hand to the Disney Store

Steve Jobs is the inspiration behind the look and feel of many of Apple’s products, including their hippy hang out, the Apple Store. Well the New York Times has reported that Apple CEO Steve Jobs will be helping the aging (and failing) Disney Stores get their retail business back into shape. It appears that they will be making their retail stores more interactive where customers who walk by a certain display will set off some sort of audio and visual reaction.

Employees at Disney Store locations will also get to use a little bit of Apple’s tech, they will use iPhones (or maybe iPod touches as well) to check item inventory and control displays within the store. To feel out of their new concept will work, they will make a prototype store just like Apple did before they opened up their Apple Stores. It will also be a way for executives and investors to check out the new store and give their stamp of approval. Disney plans to redo 340 of their stores as well as their flagship store in Times Square, and will be spending about $1 million on that one store alone.
