Not everybody who gets the iPhone 3GS intends to use the device with the exclusive carriers. Many instead choose to unlock their iPhone 3GS so as to use it with a different carrier. If you are a T-mobile subscriber but you wish to use an iPhone 3GS, the following unlock tutorial is for you.

iPhone 3GS 3.0 Unlock Tutorial 1: Requirements

To unlock the iPhone 3GS, you will need to meet the following criteria.

-Have an iPhone 3GS running on firmware 3.0

-Have the iphone 3GS jailbroken

-Have a T-Mobile Sim card. The iPhone 3GS unlock only works with T-Mobile customers.

-Have 3G turned off and be on a Wi-Fi network on your iPhone 3GS.

-Go to Cydia->manage->sources->edit->add and add the following; “http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com” make sure the “0″ in sn0w is a ZERO not the letter “O”.

After you add the source, your iPhone 3GS should present the following screens. It is simply adding an additional source for Cydia to pull programs from.

-The second and final step to unlock your iPhone 3GS running on firmware 3.0 is to search for a package in Cydia and download it. Once the package downloads, it will proceed to unlock your iPhone 3GS from the clutches of AT&T! =)

-Once the unlock has been installed, simply follow through by rebooting your iPhone 3GS.

-Once everything is reset, its time to see if the unlock worked, simply use the SIM card jimmy or a paper clip that came with the iPhone 3GS to pull out the SIM card and insert your T-Mobile sim. You should see the T-Mobile bars on your iPhone 3GS within a few minutes at most.
