Yesterday we reported that XSKN added more fuel to the iPhone Nano rumor by opening a new category on their site aptly named “iPhone Nano“. Well today, XSKN decided to just take matters into their own hands as they published a page dedicated to the non-official iPhone Nano. The page is a product page that lists all the different colors for their iPhone Nano case, even though there is no official word from Apple of such a product. Even though Apple has yet to give an official announcement regarding the iPhone Nano, there are some Apple fanatics who have rendered an image of what they feel the iPhone Nano would look like. Basically, just a smaller and thinner version of the iPhone 3G. Very fitting since they called it the iPhone Nano. Again, this is just all speculation as we wait for an official word from Apple. Please stay tuned as more information comes our way.

Last week, there were plenty of evidence to show that Apple may indeed be coming out with an Apple iPhone Nano. Today there may be more proof of the iPhone nano rumor. The iPhone case manufacturing company XSKN has just added a section on their website labelled “iPhone Nano“. XSKN has been known to reveal cases for future products before the official unveiling of the products themselves. Earlier this year, they leaked out images of a case for the iPhone 3G months before the official release of the iPhone 3G. In September, they did the same with the 4th generation iPod Nano. Now this may not be official evidence of a iPhone Nano, but it does seem like the rumors may have some truth behind them. With all these evidence showing up, there is no reason why we could not expect a iPhone Nano. But again, nothing is certain, so don’t put your hopes up.

On a side note, there were rumors that some of Apple’s initial plans for their last MacWorld Expo 2009 may have been delayed. So we really do not know what to expect from Apple during the MacWorld Expo. All we can do is speculate, as per usual.

iphone copy and paste

One of the major downfalls of the iPhone is there is no copy and paste feature like on other mobile phones. Pastebud is an iPhone app that lets you copy and paste text from email and Safari. Unfortunately it has been revealed that it is sending copied emails with personal information in some instances out to random strangers. Wrong users are receiving the copied text and emails which are sent to an online clipboard with users not receiving the copied text they were trying to copy and paste. Creator of Pastebud Jed Schmidt found the problem and has fixed it.

iPhone Egypt

A look at the Apple Knowledge Base on Egyptian iPhones yields this result:

  • An iPhone purchased in Egypt does not have GPS enabled
  • An iPhone purchased in Egypt that is used outside of Egypt does not have GPS enabled
  • Any iPhone used while roaming in Egypt does not have GPS enabled
  • An unlocked iPhone used with an Egyptian carrier’s SIM does not have GPS enabled

Apparently iPhones sold in Egypt have the internal GPS function turned off. There is no word yet on why Egypt will not allow the GPS functions but it is quite an inconvenience for rich Egyptians. It looks like you will have to rely on other GPS gadgets or even… dare I say… a map?!

Golf Charge

The iPhone’s battery life is probably one of its biggest drawbacks. In the day and age of cell phones that require a charge every three or four days, the iPhone’s daily charge requirement can be quite a nuisance for some people. The latest concept from Mac Funamizu will allow users to swing a golf club and recharge their iPhone at the same time. The kinetic energy of the swing will be partially converted to charge the iPhone.

iPhone Charge

This might be a great idea if it ever gets picked up. The program is purported to even help you perfect your golf swing next time you want to impress the boss!

32GB iPhone 3G

The iPhone 3G has been out less than a year and rumors are already saying that a 32GB Apple iPhone 3G is on the way. A tip from a third party iPhone accessory maker brought this rumor to life. They also said that Apple may be dropping their 8GB iPhone 3G all together. The anonymous tipster said that Apple plans to announce these big changes at MacWorld 2009. Samsung recently introduced a 32GB NAND chip that would work well with the iPhone so this rumor has some truth to it. Other rumors claim Apple has been amassing these new chips for some time to be used in the new 32GB iPhone 3G. Rumors also claim that the new Intel 64GB chip that was recently released may be going into the iPod touch.

iphone nano

Another rumor that has been all over the internet and iPhone blogs is the speculation of an iPhone nano. New rumors claim that the iPhone nano will become a reality in 2009. This new iPhone nano is said to include less features and capacity, possibly just 4GB of space, but it will be quite a bit smaller as well. It may not be positioned in the highly competitive smart phone segment either, instead Apple may be trying to tackle the lower priced phone market. It is said that the iPhone nano may go for $99 but will not include GPS, the iTunes store or the App Store so it won’t be a direct competitor to the popular iPhone 3G. Stay tuned for any news regarding Apples plans for the new iPhone and iPhone nano.

iPhone 3G

There has been much speculation that Costco will soon be getting the iPhone. According to analyst group Global Equities Research founder Trip Chowdhry, Costco will be getting the iPhone this upcoming January and they would be able to sell the iPhone for about $149. This seems like a bold move by Apple, if it materializes. When they released the iPhone 3G, they cut the price to $199 just to make it more affordable for consumers. Although the speculation lacks any real substantial evidence, it would be of no surprise as the price of the iPhone in France has dropped to 99 Euros (through Orange France), which is about $126. Please check back as more information comes our way.

Firmware 2.2 Jailbreak

The iPhone firmware 2.2 beta that was released to developers has already been jailbroken by the iPhone Dev team. In the latest pre-emptive strike against Apple’s hold on proprietary software, the Dev team has provided users what should be a very smooth transition  for those who jailbreak their iPhones to run third party apps. On the last firmware update, the team was able to jailbreak the phone in about 24 hours after release. They are currently still working on the unlock for the iPhone 3G however. Of course nothing is final and the firmware is still just a beta which means it is subject to change before the final release.

Yesterday we reported that the new iPhone firmware 2.2 was to include Google Street View. Now it has come to our attention that the new iPhone firmware 2.2 will include a small minor change in the Podcasts section. There is much speculation that iPhone users would be able to directly download Podcasts without having to connect their iPhone to a computer. A few weeks back, an application called Podcaster was denied by Apple and we are now speculating that Apple already had plans to add this feature to the iPhone with their own firmware. That is why Apple denied the Podcaster application. We shall wait and see if Apple does add this feature as it already makes sense since iPhone users already have the ability to download applications and songs/videos directly onto their iPhone.
