ifartshot

The highly anticipated iFart app hit the top paid app spot receiving over 13,000 purchases on December 22nd. That means about $9200 went to the developer alone. That’s a pretty large payday for Joel Comm the developer. This is a good sign for independent app developers hoping to strike it rich, if such a useless app like the iFart then a useful app could do even better. This is great for Apple too as they take a part of the revenues.

Joel’s climb up the “ranks”

iphone game cheat iphone game cheat
The iPhone is a popular way to play games on the go, and like other gaming platforms it has cheats. Game developers found a new way to use these cheats, with the iPhones accelerometer. A Macenstein user has found a cheat for the game Imagine Poker that will let you start on any round you like. Here is how to take advantage of this cool new cheat.

Step 1: Make sure the iPhone’s time is on the quarter hour as described above. Launch the app.

Step 2: On the opening splash screen, shake the device until you hear a giggle,. This will invoke the “Polaroid Cheat” that lets you start on any round in the game you like.

Step 3: Choose your round. Enjoy!

iPhone GPS

The 2.1 firmware update fixed many initial problems but many users have reported problems with their GPS.While the firmware did fix previous reception issues, it may have caused problems with the location triangulation features of the GPS. The good news though, is that this problem might be fixed by a simple reset of the phone settings. Plenty of users have reported success while others weren’t so lucky. To reset your iPhone settings, go to settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This might be the solution to your problems so try it out and give some feedback to others in the same boat!

original iphone

So you bought a brand new iPhone 3G, with its new look and faster speed it definitely is a better phone compared to the original iPhone. So what are you going to do with your OG iPhone? Well you can pass it along to a friend or family member and let them start a new AT&T contract with it so they can enjoy all the benefits of the iPhone. You can make a little extra cash on the side and sell it on eBay or Craigslist. Or you can just keep it, the original iPhone still has all the same features and functions but you just can’t text or make any phone calls. MacWorld did a great write-up and what you can do with your old iPhone, check it out below:

Pass it along AT&T would love for your nearest and dearest to purchase their own iPhone 3G as well. But, barring that, the company is more than happy to lock them into a new two-year contract for your old iPhone. You’ll learn the ins and out of handing off your iPhone to another in this PDF document from AT&T.

Before you give your iPhone to someone else, whether for free or for a fee (see below), you should wipe the data from it. If your old iPhone isn’t running the latest iPhone software, plug your iPhone into your computer, select it in iTunes’ Source list, and in the Summary tab click the Check for Update button. Choose to download and install the latest software.

After you’ve installed the software take iPhone in hand and tap Settings -> General -> Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. Under the 1.x iPhone software, invoking this setting erased the iPhone’s obvious data, but not everything. Under the 2.0 software, you get a much more thorough wipe. Note that wiping your iPhone’s data this way can take an hour or two.

Sell it You can pass along your iPhone and make a tidy sum at the same time. Check eBay and Craigslist and you’ll find that original 8GB iPhones are going for between $350 and $450. Examine those listings carefully and you’ll see that these phones are unlocked by one method or another.

palringo app

Sending picture messages via MMS is just as popular as sending a text, yet it’s funny that the innovative iPhone isn’t able to do this. That’s where the new app Palringo comes in to help. Palringo links with many popular IM services, such as AIM, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger and others, and allows you to send text and picture messages from your iPhone. It does this fee without depleting your SMS limit. Palringo is working on getting voice messages up and running for the iPhone very soon too. This isn’t a replacement for SMS messaging however, as it goes though your instant messaging network and you must be logged in to use it. It does come in handy and is a useful little app that makes it a lot easier to send images on your iPhone.

If you are using Safari under the Firmware 2.0 on either your iPhone or iPod Touch, there is a new way to save you a few seconds typing out a domain name ending other than the provided “.com”. Under Firmware 2.0, if you hold down the “.com” for a second while typing, a pop-up will appear allowing you to select from “.net”, “.org”, “.edu”, or “.com”. In addition to this, the “.net” should change according to your country’s home domain name ending. For example in Great Britain, .net would be changed to “co.uk”. This will surely save you some time when typing up long URL’s

Go try it out now!

This article was originally posted on the Sansa Nation blog

I found this article on the Shop Sansa blog. It is a pretty good guide if you want know the downsides of downloading music illegally.  Personally I hate the RIAA, but here you go.

There are a lot of MP3 download sites from which to choose and more are starting up every day. Each of the best offers specific features and benefits. It is important to make sure what you are downloading has been legally purchased from a site approved by the music industry.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is the trade group that represents the U.S. recording industry. Its mission is to foster a business and legal climate that supports and promotes our members’ creative and financial vitality. Its members are the record companies that comprise the most vibrant national music industry in the world. RIAA members create, manufacture and/or distribute approximately 90% of all legitimate sound recordings produced and sold in the United States. In support of this mission, the RIAA works to protect intellectual property rights worldwide and the First Amendment rights of artists; conducts consumer, industry and technical research; and monitors and reviews state and federal laws, regulations and policies.

RIAA approved download sites for your Sansa MP3 player

It’s easy to find legal sites to download great music for your Sansa MP3 player. For a full list of legal music sites approved by the music industry go to http://www.riaa.com/toolsforparents.php?content_selector=legal_music_sites. Here you can find all the latest and greatest songs, music videos, classic oldies, a wide variety of jazz and classical standards plus broadband radio and TV shows.

For example – audiocandy.com offers over 2 million MP3 downloads from most labels. It also lets you connect to TV episodes and feature films for free. Puretracks.com offers everything from pop and country to jazz rifts and indie music. Other RIAA recommended sites include AOL Music, Best Buy, Lifeway, SamGoody and more.

If you want to pay per month, rather than by the track, take a look at http://www.rhapsody.com

Rhapsody lets you listen to everything they have in their massive catalog for one low monthly price. This monthly subscription service includes a full spectrum from new to old, mainstream to indie, hip-hop to classical and more. You can search by artist, browse genres, tune into Rhapsody Channels and get personalized recommendations. It’s easy to create your own playlist and then share it with friends.

For free and legal access to independent music, try http://iodapromonet.com

Promonet is a unique promotional music distribution network that provides its users with a new way to legally download, publish, and share music. Promonet is run by IODA — http://www.iodalliance.com — the leading digital distributor of independent digital music. More than 3000 of the best and most influential independent record labels distribute their music through IODA, and they have given IODA permission to make thousands of their tracks available to Promonet users.

Tips to follow to avoid illegal music

The RIAA offers the following tips to help consumers avoid illegal music: Remember the Adage “You Get What You Pay For”: Even if you are hoping to get your favorite albums at a discount, new or used, extremely low prices might indicate pirated product. Watch for Compilations that are “Too Good to Be True”: Many pirates make illegal “dream compilation” CDs, comprised of songs by numerous artists on different record labels. Read the Label: If the true name and address of the manufacturer are not shown, it is most likely not legitimate product. These products often do not contain a bar code. Furthermore, if the record label listed is a company you’ve never heard of, that should be another warning sign.
