Car-surfing with the iPhone

Ever wanted to car-surf and control your car with your iPhone? Well now there’s an app for that, ok not really. We must warn you however, don’t try this at home! The guys at Waterloo Labs out of Austin, Texas created this budget DIY project, they fabricated a setup that uses a first-gen iPhone that is able to control a car. They didn’t deem the project a success however, until they were able to car-surf with their new invention.

The video below shows the Waterloo Labs hackers doing their own re-enactment of Teen Wolf’s iconic van surfing scene. While many crazy people out there enjoy car-surfing as a hobby, these guys do it with style, and tech. The daredevil’s hack allows them to control the car’s steering, acceleration and brakes all with the iPhone. Practical? No. Safe? Not even close. Cool? Absolutely!
