Enable Coice Control with your 2g and 3g iPhone

This step-by-step guide and tutorial will show you how to enable the Voice Control feature on your iPhone 2G or iPhone 3G . It is pretty simple but it does require your iPhone to be jailbroken. If it’s not, and you wish to jailbreak your device (at your own risk) simply follow one of our jailbreak tutorials.

This hack will not get the “real” Voice Control to work on your iPhone but it will install the Vocalia app, which is basically a clone of Voice Control with a few differences.

As usual when performing any type of file tweaking on your iPhone, there is no guaranty that it will work for you.

How to Get Voice Control on iPhone 2G/3G:

1. Install OpenSSH from Cydia. If you don’t have a client yet, download WinSCP for Windows, or CyberDuck for Mac.

2. Download VoiceControl.zip from here and Unzip it.

3. SSH into your iPhone and navigate to the /root/Applications Directory.

4. Copy the Voice Control.app inside the directory.

5. Right-click on Voice Control.app to edit the properties and change the permission to 0755. Make sure you check “Set group, owner and permissions recursively” (may be worded differently on a Mac).

6. Reboot your iPhone

7. You will now have the Voice Control icon on your springboard.

8. Launch the app and change the settings to fit your needs.

9. Done!

You should now have a working voice control for your iPhone 2g/3g enjoy!
