Verizon’s marketing department must have thought they were real clever with their “there’s a map for that” ads that took aim at AT&T and the iPhone. In case you didn’t see the commercial yet we posted it above. Well it looks like Fake Steve Jobs didn’t like the new ad either, he had the following to say about it:
I’ve said it before, when Sprint and Palm did this with the Pre — if the only way you can market your product is to compare it to some other product, you’ve already lost. Well, thanks for the free publicity, bitches.
He has a point, instead of poking fun of the iPhone and comparing your products and service to the number one smart phone in the world, how about showing off the features your products have? As an iPhone owner, I can say that there are a number of features that the iPhone lacks that smart phones under Verizon may have. And doesn’t Verizon want to carry the iPhone eventually, so what good is it to talk crap on the iPhone? I would have merely smack talked AT&T and left the iPhone completely out of the equation in hopes that Verizon would get a crack at it when AT&T’s contract was up.
