It seems that the growing trend in visual entertainment technology is 3D. They have already shown several NFL games and movies in 3D. Now imagine if you could view your Apple iPhone apps in 3D. Wazabee has just announced that they will be officially introducing several “autostereoscopic” products at the upcoming MacWorld Expo. The first product worth mentioning is the new Wazabee 3DeeShell. The 3DeeShell is a protective case with a removable clear 3D lens. Although there aren’t any applications for the iPhone that produce 3D images, Wazabee will release three standalone apps that will help you take advantage of this clear 3D lens: 3DeeVUsion, 3Dee!oader, and 3DeeCamera. The company released the following descriptions for the three applications:
• For iPod Touch users, 3DeeVUsion makes it possible to view three-dimensional content and create their own content as well by taking advantage of the device’s simple touchpad operation.
• With the 3Dee!oadr Web application, users have access to a stock of more than 500,000 3D images thanks to a connection to Yahoo Flickr! image services. The software also enables users to upload their own 3D images and share them with friends.
• With the 3DeeCamera, users can generate stereoscopic pictures in a matter of seconds using mobile software and a native iPhone camera. Various viewing modes mean that the pictures can be viewed with or without 3D glasses.
Now there is no official word as to how much the case would cost and if these applications would cost customers anything. In addition to the 3DeeShell for the Apple iPhone, Wazabee announced that they are working on one for the 13-inch Macbooks and 19-inch gaming laptops that will be introduced at MacWorld 2009.
