What makes the iPhone so attractive are the rich visuals and that lovable touchscreen. Obviously this doesn’t bode well with the visually impaired. InVision decided to take the task of making the iPhone more blind-friendly and it seems they reached their goal with this new iPhone case. The case is embedded with a “Moon Type” alphabet soft buttons and when combined with a custom home screen and a screen reading application, the blind can use the iPhone easily. Although the whole project is currently under development, this looks very promising. It seems that the only way to implement blind-friendly applications is to tamper with the iPhone OS. Let us just hope Apple will not throw a fit about any Apple App store violations or what not. It seems like a very good idea.
