Firmware 2.2 for the iPhone and iPhone 3G is finally available. As promised, Google Streetview is now available for the iPhone and iPhone 3G. While the iphone streetview will not be synced to a cool compass function like in the G1, it is still a welcome addition. Other additions include the ability to turn off that annoying iphone auto-correct (I meant to type “YO” not “to”!) and the ability to download podcasts over the air. Firmware 2.2 adds a beefy amount of functions to the iPhone and iPhone 3G but those who are hoping to unlock some time in the future should be careful about updating to firmware 2.2. The good news though is that firmware 2.2 has already been jailbroken.
New updates:
*Google Streetview
*Public Transit Times
*Walking Directions
*Auto-correction off
*Podcast downloads over the air
To install firmware 2.2 simply connect your iPhone to your computer, open up iTunes and you will be prompted for the rest! Enjoy!

I am glad that apple is continuing to update the firmware, but can they get some priorities straight? Like better integration with exchange calendar invites and some copy paste. I would love to replace my blackberry with an IPhone at work, but these basics need to be provided. Sure Street view is nice, but all its going to do is help me find the soup line if I lose my job because I missed a calendar invite.
