I was recently fortunate enough to get the “searching for service” bug for the first time last week. Apparently it had been a problem with the iPhone ever since it first came out and it has persisted through all the different firmware updates.
In case you are wondering, the problem stems from an issue with the iPhone being stuck on the “searching for service” message at the upper left corner even in areas where reception is strong. I had gone almost the whole day without realizing it. The solution to the problem is to do a reset of the phone itself by pressing the power and home buttons at the same time and holding it until the Apple logo appears.
