I’ve owned two MINI’s since 2002, and one cool benefit of being a MINI owner was the included roadside assistance program they had with all new MINI’s. Well it looks like they have gone a step further and have created an iPhone app to make full use of their roadside assistance program. The AAA roadside assistance iPhone app was just recently released as well, so it looks like this may be a trend among insurance companies. MINI USA collaborated with Allstate insurance to create their iPhone app, a GPS-equipped BlackBerry version is also available, that lets owners automatically call for roadside assistance. To use the app you have to input your vehicle ID number after you download the app, you can even upload an image of your cute little MINI onto the app.
Next time you have a flat tire or a fender bender, just pull up the MINI roadside assistance app and you can request service, the app contacts Allstate and coordinates with the app which provides your location via GPS. This is great app that gives people some piece of mind when they’re out on the road, I’m sure other automakers and insurance companies will soon follow suit with their own apps.
